Technical Director - Princeton Junction, NJ

The Technical Director will work out of our outsourcing office in Princeton Junction, NJ while support our customer in Princeton, NJ

Scope of Position:
The Technical Director reports to the Chief Information Officer.  The IS Systems Engineering staff reports to the Technical Project Director.

Major Goal:
The Technical Director works with Medical Center departments and ACS-HCS staff to plan and implement technological solutions to meet the goals of the organization and to direct the activities of the IS systems engineer staff in the execution of those solutions.

Leadership Functions
The Technical Director must satisfy leadership responsibilities by:

  • Supporting Medical Center goals and vision.
  • Providing requested input in development of Medical Center business plan.
  • Participating in development of Information Systems’ vision and strategic plan.
  • Acting as a focal point for Information Systems Continuous Quality Improvement activities.

Administrative Functions
The Technical Director must satisfy administrative responsibilities by:

  • Directing project management to include developing project, communication, life cycle, and support plans.
  • Allocating resources for project development and support, and setting priorities, based on Information Systems Steering Committee decisions.
  • Participating in vendor contract development.
  • Managing Princeton Medical Center’s on-site server environment.
  • Managing server license inventory.
  • Ensuring operating system versions are current and supportable.
  • Serving as the IS Security Officer.
  • Preparing and submitting management reports as required.
  • Assisting in department budgeting process.
  • Managing costs within budget guidelines.
  • Managing software vendor relations.
  • Participating in Information Systems and Telecommunications policy, procedures and standards development.
  • Maintaining adequate design- and testing-work environment.
  • Developing and maintaining project transfer procedures for inter- and intra-    department handoffs.

Staff Development
The Technical Project Director must satisfy staff development responsibilities by:

  • Participating in staff recruiting and assigning key staff to assist in the interview process as appropriate
  • Collaborating with staff to develop annual personal development plans.
  • Defining staff roles and responsibilities.
  • Participating in the development of promotion guidelines and methodology.
  • Communicating performance expectations to staff and addressing performance deficiencies.
  • Maintaining a consistent disciplinary process for all Information Systems staff.
  • Performing annual staff review and goal setting, in compliance with ACS-HCS policy.

Required Education:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent in educational and/or work experience

Desired Experience:

  • Five or more years’ work experience as a systems engineer or Information Systems Manager
  • Experience with health care informatics, telecommunications and/or technical service management
  • Experience with LAN/WAN, Internet and routing protocols
  • Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, Oracle, UNIX, MS-SQL, Netware, NT, Cisco switches and HTML.
