Application Analyst – Patient Accounting – Outsourcing: Chicago, IL

The ACS-HCS Outsourcing Division specializes in managing IT organizations for healthcare providers nationwide. The position for an Application Analyst with a Patient Accounting focus is located in Chicago, IL. Candidates must either live in the Chicago area or be willing to relocate there. This is a full time, non-travel career opportunity.

Areas Of Specialization

1. Patient Accounting

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Supporting the revenue cycle applications with a focus on the patient accounting system. 
2. Uses an operational knowledge of the registration, medical records and patient accounting areas in supporting the business units with the Siemens patient accounting system.
3. Provides file extracts for third party vendors.  Works closely with the Systems Integration group on data extracts.
4. Responsible for system upgrades.
5. Ensures billing is accurate and in compliance with regulatory bodies.
6. Manages or is the project leader for many of the financial system projects.
7. Works closely with users to facilitate resolutions to reporting issues.
8. Pro active in research for systems and process related to reporting and information management.
9. Provides research for technological advances and systems requested by customer.
10. Works closely with the designated IT expert user of the department to maintain system integrity.
11. Participates in cross training within the Financial Systems group.
12. Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the department and its employees.
13. Is the main vendor contact for Siemens and provides insight during IT contract review.

Required Experience & Education

Bachelors in computer science, business or related field (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years experience in healthcare information services or business area with focus on information systems. Strong knowledge of revenue cycle operations with particular operational expertise in patient accounting and patient accounting applications. Siemens experience preferred but not required. Education and experience with system lifecycle methodologies and project management.  Particular strength desired with claims management, accounts receivable, collections and remittance processing.
